How to Lose Weight During and After Menopause

Upon reaching your menopausal stage, just like most women, you will realize that your weight is gradually gaining even though no alteration in your diet and exercise. It is important to note that you are dealing with a big change in your body when you are going through menopause.

As your body's production of estrogen drops, you may find yourself putting on more wait. Throughout the process of your body adapting to a healthier state, the steps needed to keep yourself fit and healthy will have to adjust as well.

Look at it from this point of view, your habits changed between your adolescent years and adulthood.

The way that body fat is distributed has a lot to do with menopause, and you will find that with that in mind the decline of estrogen levels can increase fat around the middle in women, something that can happen even if the total body weight remains the same. Since the reduction in estrogen causes your calcium deposits to shrink, it's important to get your calcium another way. If you are going to get magnesium in your diet that will help you get the calcium to where it needs to go.

Beyond that, start keeping a food journal. It is always good idea to make sure that you know what you are eating and how it is affecting you. This is a time in your life when your body is going through a lot of changes and where it is certainly going to have different needs. Look for a diet that is high in fresh fruits and vegetables, and at the end of the day, this is something that can go a long way towards keeping you healthier over all.

Similarly, remember that exercise is going to play a large role in what you need to do to keep your body fit and trim. Take some time and really find an exercise that appeals to you.

This is a great time in your life to get more active and to stay active, so take some time and really consider what your options are going to be. In many cases, finding a great exercise regimen that appeals to you and crossing it with things that will help you move forward is something that is a great idea.
