Tips For Buying Clothing for Your Children Online

By Katie Wilber

Shopping for clothing online for your children presents a number of risks and uncertainties. You may not know the store, the quality of clothing or the security of your purchases. Yep, shopping online while extremely convenient can result in an unfortunate buying experience.

Because there are many questions and risks to online shopping let's explore how to make your next online shopping experience for children's clothing a great experience.

Are They Reputable?

Before you even start looking, make sure the site youre at is safe. This means a secure transaction, you can tell by looking at the URL if it is HTTPS then the site is secure.

Online feedback and reviews are a great source of information. Because people are more likely to post bad reviews than good, it's fair to assume that no news is good news. That is, if you cannot find any bad reviews then it's probably an okay place to shop provided you've taken the other steps presented here.

Check expert resources, like the Better Business Bureau, for information.

Become aware of the brands the store carries. Are they good brands or designers with a good reputation? Does the brand hold up? Does it hold true to sizing charts or do items tend to run large or small?

Read The Product Descriptions Closely

Look for detailed product descriptions. This can include not only what the clothing is made of but where the clothing was made, how it is sized, the available colors, and even washing instructions.

Don't buy something sight unseen - a photo or a number of photos are one of the best ways to make sure you're buying something you want and your child is going to wear.

Read Store Policies

When will you receive the items? Some stores have very structured shipping policies which are apparent and stated quite clearly on their site. This is ideal and a good sign that you're dealing with a reputable business.

Can you return the item if it doesn't fit or doesn't meet your needs or expectations. Check out the return policies and make sure you keep all documentation in the event that you do need to return an item. Know Your Child's Measurements

Size Matters

It's not so much fun to buy clothing you're sure is your child's size only to find that the size runs big or worse, small. Have their measurements at the ready so you can use size charts and make sure you're getting something that fits your child.

Once you find a good online retailer and have a good experience, share the information by posting a review online. Tell people what you liked about your online shopping experience so they know what to expect. This also helps retailers you enjoy to improve their business and your shopping experience. Everyone wins. - 15995
